Frequently Asked Questions (32)

Everything you need to know about APK decompiling, Smali editing, AAB conversion, and signing on https://apk.zoomnearby.com/.

APK Tool Studio (available at https://apk.zoomnearby.com/) is a cloud-based web application that allows developers, QA engineers, and security researchers to decompile, edit Smali assembly, convert AAB bundles to APKs, generate keystores, and sign Android binaries in the browser.

No local installation is required. Everything runs on our high-performance cloud servers equipped with Apktool, Bundletool, JarSigner, and ZipAlign utilities.

Yes! The platform is designed to be 100% responsive across smartphones, tablets, and desktop browsers, allowing you to edit and sign APKs on the go.

You can upload standard Android Package files (.apk), Android App Bundles (.aab), custom Java keystores (.jks or .keystore), and JSON/XML configuration files.

Processing times typically range between 5 and 15 seconds depending on file size and framework complexity (e.g. Flutter or React Native).

Standard user accounts receive allocations for decompilation, compilation, key generation, and APK signing, with quota expansions available directly in the user dashboard.

Decompiling extracts compiled DEX bytecode into human-readable Smali assembly language and converts binary XML layout/string resources into plain editable text.

Yes! You can modify package names, permission requirements, activity declarations, intent filters, and debug flags directly in our browser code editor.

Smali is an assembler/disassembler for the .dex format used by Dalvik and Android Runtime (ART). It represents Java bytecode in low-level register assembly syntax.

You can change conditional jump instructions (such as if-eqz or if-ne) to unconditional jump instructions (goto) or invert the registers in the built-in Smali editor.

Yes! All extracted XML files in res/values/ can be edited manually or auto-translated using our integrated AI localization features.

Recompilation errors usually occur due to invalid XML syntax, mismatched Smali registers, missing resource identifiers, or corrupted asset files. Use the build error log output to pinpoint line numbers.

Yes! We support large Flutter, React Native, Unity, and native Android packages up to 512 MB in size.

AAB is Google Play mandatory publishing format. It contains compiled code and resources separated into dynamic modules, split by device ABI, density, and language.

While AABs are required for Play Store submission, physical devices and third-party stores require standard .apk files for direct installation and side-loading.

Our server uses Google official Bundletool utility to build an APK set (.apks) and extract a universal standalone APK compatible with all Android devices.

Yes! Simply upload your .aab file to https://apk.zoomnearby.com/ from your mobile browser and download the generated universal APK.

Yes, converted APKs can be signed automatically with a test certificate or your own custom keystore during conversion.

You can upload AAB files up to 512 MB per project.

Android Operating System refuses to install unsigned APK packages. Cryptographic signatures verify authorship and prevent unauthorized binary tampering.

V1 signs individual ZIP entries (legacy). V2 signs the entire ZIP archive (Android 7+). V3 supports key rotation, and V4 supports streaming installs on Android 11+.

Yes! You can generate RSA-2048 or ECC keystores with custom aliases, passwords, and organizational attributes directly in the Keystores tab.

Yes! You can securely upload existing Java keystores to sign compiled APKs.

ZipAlign aligns uncompressed data on 4-byte boundaries relative to file start, reducing RAM usage when running the application on Android OS.

Yes! Any generated or saved keystore can be downloaded to your local device at any time.

The signing step will fail with an authentication error. Verify alias name and key password before re-trying.

Integrated AI models (Gemini & OpenAI) parse XML string values and translate them into 30+ target languages while preserving Android placeholders like %1$s.

Yes! Provide a text prompt and built-in AI image models generate multi-resolution launcher icons for hdpi, xhdpi, xxhdpi, and xxxhdpi folders.

No. Uploaded files and extracted project sandboxes are stored temporarily and automatically purged after project completion or session expiration.

Never. We do not sell, license, or expose your uploaded binaries or source projects to third parties.

Yes! You can enter your personal API keys in AI Configuration Settings to use custom model parameters.

Developer documentation for CLI tools and API endpoints is available at https://apk.zoomnearby.com/docs.php.

8. Cloud Debug Logs (recommended)

Enabled crash/error reporter into the app during build. Once enabled and rebuilt, the app reports its own crashes straight to this server over the internet from ANY Android phone it's installed on — no USB, no ADB, no network configuration, and no port forwarding required.

Cloud logging has been successfully enabled into this project. Rebuild and reinstall the APK for debugging to become active.
Step 1 — Download Android App via QR Code (2 Options Available)

Choose either the lightweight Debugger Only App (log-analyzer.apk) to receive crashes & logs, or the Full Suite App (APKTOOL Studio) (apktool-studio-app.apk) with full features and mobile interface to build, decompile, edit, sign, and view logs on Android instead of web.

Direct Download Full Suite App
Backend changes detected — a newer build is available.

Reinstall the rebuilt APK or open the Debugger Only App / APKTOOL Studio App and tap Check for Update to receive the latest logging changes.

Step 2 — Connect App via QR Code

Open the Debugger Only App or APKTOOL Studio App on your Android device, tap Scan QR Code, and point your camera at the QR code below. Pairing connects your app to this server in seconds to stream crash reports, logs, and live network requests over the internet.

{{ l }}
No network requests captured yet
Requests will appear here in realtime once the rebuilt app makes an HTTP(S) call (Java HttpURLConnection, OkHttp, Retrofit, and WebView fetch()/XHR calls). If this stays empty, re-check the "Cloud Debug Logs" step to ensure hookable call sites were enabled before rebuilding.
{{ l }}
No device logs received yet
Device logs (Log.d/i/w/e/v calls captured by the injected DebugLog hooks, plus fatal crash reports) will stream here in realtime once the rebuilt app is installed and launched on a device.

Connect an Android device via USB (with USB debugging enabled) or wireless ADB to this server/PC, install the APK directly, and watch its logs in realtime.

On the phone: Settings > Developer options > Wireless debugging > turn it on, note the IP:port shown there (both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi/network). Some Android versions require pairing first with a pairing code - if connect is refused, use "Pair device with pairing code" on the phone and pair from a terminal first, then connect here.

No devices detected yet. Use "Connect Wireless ADB" above, or (if you have shell access to this server) plug a device into USB with USB debugging enabled, then Refresh.

Connect an Android device via USB or Wireless ADB above and click "Start Realtime Log" to begin capturing live logcat output.
